Inter-generational work
reclaiming arts spaces in Nottinghamshire
1st Framework and Green
Candle Dance Company join forces with Nottinghamshire
based promoters and Theatre Company, New Perspectives
to present:
h o m e, an exciting residential project
funded by the Millennium Festival draws together
local people of all ages, backgrounds and ethnicities
to create a spellbinding piece of dance, music and
drama set in an unusual location
h o m e invites you to sit down to a
table with a knife and fork and explore the place you
imagine you inhabit. Through dance, music, theatre
and visual workshops.
h o m e a topic central to every
individual's identity. Under the artistic direction
of Fergus Early (Green Candle Dance Company) and
Peter Avery (1st Framework) HOME stimulates and
encourages creativity in local areas by promoting
integration and creative involvement of local groups.
h o m e plants its roots in
Nottinghamshire for two, ten-day residencies in
Ollerton and Newark. Local groups will perform
alongside, and under the guidance of, a professional
team transforming a number of spaces for its premiere
in Ollerton and Bevercotes Miners Welfare Trust
Social Club and the disused Newark Magnus School.
Primary and secondary schools, travellers, older
person's groups, craft and design groups, choirs and
bands will work over a ten day period joining
together for a final weekend of performances.
h o m e from home. Celebrate with
Thoresby Colliery Band and enjoy a journey through
the rooms to see the children of Barnby Road Primary
School, Newark's Modern Sequence group, Ollerton's
Whitewater Centre, Balderton Youth Tenants
Association and many other local groups performing
specially commissioned music, dance and song in
unusual spaces.
