Walworth
Garden Farm is an environmental/horticultural training centre,
fully equipped for wheelchair access. The
site
features a
pond
a
wildlife
area, fruit, vegetable
and flower
beds,
poly
tunnels,
a commercial-sized greenhouse
and
bees are
kept on the farm. On derelict
land leased from the Council, local residents founded Walworth
Garden Farm in 1987 in Walworth, a heavily built up inner city
area of Southwark
The aim was to reclaim
the site and to provide an educational and training resource
in organic horticulture for the local community
The
environmental and educational activities of the farm are promoted
by practice and training. This is highlighted in our mission
statement
Walworth Garden Farm,
a registered charity, is a member of the National Federation
of City Farms and an approved NVQ training centre
A voluntary management
committee whose members live locally governs the farm and it
is an accredited Investor in People
